Leave a gift in your will
A lasting legacy
Several years ago Kids with Cancer Foundation received a generous bequest that specified research into childhood cancers. That single initial bequest has now grown to fund a $1.2 million world-first research project into Ependymoma, the third most frequent brain tumour in children.
Without the initial bequest, the research trial would not have happened. Childhood cancer remains the primary cause of disease-related deaths among Australian children and your gift, no matter how small, will make a difference.

This is world-leading research that will make a real difference to the lives of these children and their families.
I want to express my gratitude to the support from the Kids with Cancer Foundation, which has been critical to realising this world-leading trial.

Bequest FAQs

It’s absolutely possible to look after your family and loved ones in your Will while also supporting a charity that’s close to your heart. You can:
- Leave a Residual Gift: this is a percentage or the remainder of your estate left to charity after ensuring your loved ones are provided for.
- Specify a Fixed Amount: a 'pecuniary gift' can be donated to charity while allocating the rest of your estate to your family and loved ones.
- Leave a Gift of Assets: specific assets such as property, shares or valuables can be left to a charity while the rest of your estate is distributed to your family.
- Set up a Charitable Trust: this provides income to your family during their lifetimes with the remainder going to the charity after they pass. This allows your family to benefit immediately while also leaving a legacy.
We suggest you seek professional advice to ensure your wishes are carried out exactly as you intend. It’s a good idea to work with a solicitor or estate planner who can help you structure your Will in a way that balances your priorities and ensures your loved ones and chosen charity are looked after.
Not at all! Every gift, no matter the size, has a meaningful impact. Whether it’s a specific amount, an asset, or a percentage of your estate, your contribution will help improve the lives of children and families in need.
You can copy and paste the below statements into your Will, however we recommend checking with your legal representative first.
To leave a specific gift amount:
I ………………………………….. of ………………………………………………………………in the state of ………… give and bequeath to Kids with Cancer Foundation (Australia) Limited ACN 095 779 114, in aid of children with cancer and for its general purposes, the sum of $………………………. , for which the receipt of the Treasurer or other officer shall be sufficient discharge to my Executor for the gift.
To leave a residual gift:
I ……………………………………. of …………………………………………………………in the state of ………… give and bequeath to Kids with Cancer Foundation (Australia) Limited ACN 095 779 114, in aid of children with cancer and for its general purposes, the rest and residue of my estate, for which the receipt of the Treasurer or other officer shall be sufficient discharge to my Executor for the gift.
If you already have a Will and would like to leave a gift to Kids with Cancer Foundation, you can make this change by adding a codicil (a legal amendment) to your existing Will or by drafting a new Will.
Ensure you consult your solicitor or estate planner to ensure your wishes are legally binding and don’t forget to provide our correct charity name and ABN. (Kids with Cancer Foundation (Australia) Limited 095 779 114. A suggestion of how to word your codicil can be found in the above FAQ. Once the update or codicil is completed, store your Will safely and ensure your executor knows where to find it. It’s always important to discuss your decision with your family and loved ones so they’re aware of your intentions. This can help avoid misunderstandings and ensure your legacy is honoured.
