"how much of my dollar gets through to the cause".
We use all our donations 100% for family assistance, and the cancer wards in children's hospitals with no management fees whatsoever taken from the donations made directly to us and held in our donation Gift Account. All management costs/Administration etc. come from the lotteries that have been running continuously since 1999, so our donations and funds received from fundraising events are able to remain untouched. Usually the support we give to hospitals, clinicians and the research that we have funded since 1999 comes from our lotteries.

Four year old little Jax was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) Jax is a shy little boy when you first meet him, but once he gets to know you, he is very cheeky with a smile that is extremely contagious. Jax loves playing with his iPad and LOVES the Avengers! Us too Jax... especially Ironman! He also loves Batman, Superman, Transformers and Disney's Cars.
He loves playing ball outside and also playing with playdough. Jax has a teddy blanket that he just won't go anywhere without. Some days his mum has to search high and low to find it so he can go to sleep! Teddy has been good for him while being on his treatment.
Jax lives with his parents and his little brother and cousin. He gets into a lot of mischief playing with them.
We here at Kids With Cancer send all our best wishes to little Jax and his family. The financial help the family has been able to access so far from us, comes from our supporter's direct donations.
In the 2016/17 Financial Year we had processed 604 family requests, which was up 100 from the previous year, 157 requests were from new referrals from 10 different children's hospitals. We paid directly to families $400,000 for everything from groceries to funeral expenses.

We want our supporters to know that we are a stand-alone Public Benevolent Institution, we are totally independent from all other charities. We are not associated with the 'Oncology Children's Foundation' trading as 'Kids Cancer Project' in any way, even though the names are similar (& there's often confusion). The story in Sydney's Sunday Telegraph 7/2/2016 where the past CEO of the 'Kids Cancer Project' admitted to three counts of fraud has no association with us, 'Kids with Cancer Foundation Australia'. The statement made by the current CEO saying "it was a warning to all other charities", was over the top, unnecessary, and an attempt to tar all decent charities (with proper Governance) with the same brush.
We have never used backpacker 'Chuggers' in the street or shopping centres with iPads that hide the true percentage of your donation & we warn against donating in that way.
We use 100% of the direct donations that we receive from the public to help the kids, their families and the children's hospitals where they are treated.
Every charity has costs, telephone, electricity, post, printing, salaries etc. but none of our costs come from our direct donations. We have never paid any marketing company from our donation/Gift account.
We will and do use 100% of every dollar in our Gift Account to benefit the kids, no salaries or expenses come from our Gift Account.
In this financial year alone over $400,000 has been provided as direct financial assistance to struggling families of the youngest of children suffering with childhood cancer, for all things from grocery vouchers to funeral assistance.
The major fundraising that 'we' do comes from our own efforts. The lotteries/art unions that we run in shopping centres selling our $2 tickets are run in-house and we work hard on these 7 days a week & have done so continually (without a days break, apart from Christmas Day) for 19 years.
Purchasing lottery tickets from a charity is not seen by the ATO as a donation (as you receive something in return) so we keep our lottery sales separate from the donations that we receive & that way we can pass on all the funds that we receive in our donation'Gift' account to benefit the kids.
Throughout Australia, over 900 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer each year. Their survival rate has increased significantly over the past 20 years, and when all cancer types are considered, the survival rate 5 years after diagnosis is 81% for this population group. The improved survival rates, which have occurred despite stable cancer incidence rates, are due to medical and technological advances.
As the Naming Rights sponsor of The Kids Cancer Centre's 'Kids Cancer Research Centre' and the 'Behavioural Sciences Unit' at Sydney Children's Hospital and the Founding Patron of the 'Children's Cancer Centre' at Monash Children's which forms part of the Victorian Government's Paediatric Intergrated Cancer Services, our supporters can be assured their donations will go a long way to help us find a cure for childhood cancers, and in the short term a better way for us to treat children suffering now with childhood cancers.
We are proud to be the largest ever donor to Sydney Children's Hospital.
In the month of March (2016) we have assisted families of kids with cancer to pay the household bills thay can't afford to pay, because their child is undergoing cancer treatment, sadly two of those payments were for funerals and we have one more funeral request on our desk today (our 15th since June 2015).
In those 30 days of March we have paid over $32,000 to families, everything from grocery vouchers to rent & mortgage payments. A small thing was tickets to the Zoo for a family ...for a little respite away from the hospital.
As a small charity we get the most satisfaction helping families directly, please help us to continue what we do in your name. Donate & 100% will get to the kids or their families, we take no management fees from your donations.
The 100% charity
100% of all direct donations to Kids with Cancer Foundation are passed on to struggling families of kids with cancer.
No management fees, salaries or any running costs of the Foundation are taken from our Donation Account', and that is our promise to cancer families and our supporters. Our donations are only used for families who are struggling financially, and have a child in one of our Australian children's hospitals being treated for childhood cancer, or has recently finished treatment.
Cancer families must travel to a major city children's hospital to have their child treated, and the cost can cripple a family's available income over this treatment period, which is at the least months and usually years. We have no maximum dollar amount per family/per year as we take each social worker's request on merit when it's received.
