Jimmy Vernon Races for Neeom at Sandown Supercars

At the 2025 Sandown 500, motorsport became more than just racing. Jimmy Vernon, SuperUtes driver and proud Kids with Cancer Foundation Ambassador, carried a very special tribute on his helmet:  the photo and story of Neeom, a brave five-year-old from Melbourne.

Neeom was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia just three days before his fourth birthday. His family’s world changed overnight as he began intense treatment, spending months in hospital and missing out on kindergarten and playtime with friends. “He would always ask us why he couldn’t go to school or see his friends,” his mum, Riddhiben, shared.

After finishing his intense treatment in March 2025, Neeom returned to kindergarten in April and is now in the maintenance phase, looking forward to starting school next year. He’s strong, determined and a huge car lover. Seeing his photo on Jimmy’s helmet and attending Sandown was a dream come true. “Neeom was so excited for this opportunity,” said Riddhiben.

For Jimmy, it was an honour:
“Carrying Neeom’s photo and story on my helmet was incredibly special. Every time I put that helmet on, I was reminded of the bravery of these kids and their families. Using motorsport to shine a light on their courage and raise awareness for Kids with Cancer Foundation means everything to me.”

Alongside Jimmy, the Blanchard Racing Team and CoolDrive Autoparts made the weekend unforgettable for more than ten children undergoing treatment at Monash Children’s Hospital. These kids and their families experienced the thrill of race day,  meeting drivers, sitting in Jimmy’s SuperUte, and soaking up the high-octane atmosphere.
