Our Kids Get First Pick: Behind the Scenes at the 2026 Sydney Royal Easter Show Showbag Launch
Imagine being one of the very first people in all of Australia to get your hands on this year’s Easter Show showbags before they’re even on sale. That’s exactly what happened for a group of extraordinary kids supported by Kids with Cancer Foundation.
On 4 March, we were invited to join the Sydney Royal Easter Show (the Show) at Sydney Showground for the exclusive preview launch of the 2026 showbag line-up. Fifty children and their families — including many kids undergoing cancer treatment supported by Kids with Cancer Foundation — were chosen as “official showbag testers,” the first Australians to experience this year’s record-breaking range of 421 showbags
A Very Special Morning
For children who spend so much of their time navigating hospital appointments, treatments, and the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis, mornings like this one are a powerful reminder of what childhood is all about: pure, simple joy.
The kids didn’t just get to peek inside the showbags — they got to go through all of them, rate their favourites, and take bags home with them. Watching their faces light up as they pulled out lollies, toys, stationery, and plush animals was something truly special.
The morning was filled with plenty more magic too, including:
- Farmyard animal encounters with Hepner the alpaca and adorable puppies
- Face painting and balloon twisting
- Entertainment and performances
- Appearances from favourite Show food vendors including Antico Woodfired Pizza, Sushi Hub and Fruity Poppin
The Kids Have Spoken: 2026 Top 10 Showbags Revealed
With our kids among the official testers, it’s fair to say they had a hand in shaping the 2026 Top 10 Showbag list. After much deliberation (and a lot of sampling), here are the showbags that made the cut this year:

Moments That Matter
At Kids with Cancer Foundation, everything we do comes back to one purpose: making today easier for kids with cancer and their families. Supporting financial needs, providing Care Packs, funding hospitals and research — these are all vital. But so are the moments that let kids simply be kids.
Being invited to partner with the Sydney Royal Easter Show for this special preview is an incredible honour. Events like these are made possible through the generosity of organisations who understand that a child’s wellbeing goes far beyond medical care — it’s about laughter, connection, and days that create lasting memories.
