Tax Appeal 2026 – Meet Sully & his family

Sully’s family was just a normal family.

Thinking about bedtime routines, favourite snacks, and all the little everyday moments that make up childhood. Then suddenly, everything changed.

At just 3 years old, Sully was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma after what was first believed to be a simple UTI led to the discovery of a tumour in his bladder.

A life-changing diagnosis followed by months of treatment, hospital stays, uncertainty, and fear no family is ever prepared for.

Like so many families navigating childhood cancer, Sully’s family had to quickly adjust to a completely different reality. Days became filled with appointments, medications, procedures, and trying to stay strong while watching their little boy go through things no child should ever have to face.

During this time, Kids with Cancer Foundation helped ease some of the burden for Sully and his family.

The Foundation helped fund the nasogastric tube Sully needed during treatment and supported the ongoing Social Worker role of Kate at John Hunter Children’s Hospital — someone who stood beside the family throughout their journey, helping them understand what was happening and supporting them through some of their hardest days.

Because support during childhood cancer is about so much more than treatment alone. It’s about helping families feel less alone. It’s about easing pressure when life suddenly feels overwhelming. It’s about practical support, emotional care, and making today just a little bit easier.

Why every donation matters

Every year in Australia, more than 1,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. Behind every diagnosis is a family trying to hold everything together while navigating hospital stays, financial stress, emotional exhaustion, and the uncertainty that comes with childhood cancer.

Your donation helps Kids with Cancer Foundation continue supporting families like Sully’s through programs and services that make a real difference during treatment and beyond.

Your support could help provide:

  • Transport to vital hospital appointments
  • Food and essential household support during treatment
  • Utility relief to ease pressure at home
  • Hospital Social Workers supporting families emotionally and practically
  • Nutritional feeding support for children during treatment
  • Bespoke wigs for children experiencing hair loss
  • Vital hospital programs, clinician roles, and childhood cancer research across Australia

Every dollar helps families feel supported during one of the hardest times of their lives.

Help make today easier

No family should ever hear the words: “Your child has cancer.” But when they do, they deserve to know they are not facing it alone.

Donate before 30 June and help Kids with Cancer Foundation this tax time continue making today easier for kids with cancer and their families.
