It is vital to acknowledge that childhood cancer remains the primary cause of disease-related deaths among Australian children.

Kids with Cancer Foundation received a bequest which specified research into childhood cancers. That single initial bequest has now grown to fund a $1.2million, world-first research project into Ependymoma, the third most frequent brain tumour in children. 

The trial is being led by Professor David Ziegler and Dr Marion Mateos at the Kids Cancer Centre.  “Our ultimate goal is to make sure every child is cured and no child is left behind, and that’s exactly what we’re doing here,” Prof Ziegler said. 

 NSW Health Minister Ryan Park said, “This is world leading research which will make a real difference to the lives of these children and their families….I want to express my gratitude to the support from the Kids with Cancer Foundation, which has been critical to realising this world-leading trial.”
