It is with mixed emotions that we announce the well-deserved retirement of our esteemed Executive Director, Peter Bodman. As we bid farewell to a chapter of tireless dedication and unyielding commitment, we celebrate the profound impact Peter has made in the lives of countless children and families.
As the Founder, Peter’s journey with Kids with Cancer Foundation began in 1998, fueled by a personal mission forged by having witnessed the heartbreaking toll cancer took on his own family. Driven by the memory of his father, mother, and sister, Peter dedicated the past 26 years to making a difference in the lives of kids with cancer and their families.
Under Peter’s visionary leadership, Kids with Cancer Foundation evolved from a humble endeavour to a Nationally recognised children’s charity, touching every corner of Australia. The fruits of his labour are evident in the staggering $32 million provided nation-wide, supporting families, bolstering children’s hospitals, funding critical oncology positions, and spearheading groundbreaking research programs.
Peter’s resilience and innovation have been the driving forces behind the Foundation’s success. His tenacity ensured that families facing this challenging journey received unwavering support. Over the years, partnerships blossomed with every children’s oncology hospital in Australia, and a remarkable 16-year alliance with Bear Cottage Children’s Hospice, Sydney’s sole children’s hospice, emerged under his guidance.
Beyond the many achievements, Peter’s legacy is etched in the compassionate values he instilled—a commitment to purpose that will forever permeate the DNA of Kids with Cancer Foundation. As we farewell Peter, our team and the community stand together in gratitude for his vision, and our resolve to grow his legacy and our impact remains unwavering.
We extend our heartfelt wishes to Peter for a retirement filled with joy and well-earned relaxation. As he continues a role on the KWCF Board as Director and Chairman, we eagerly anticipate continuing in our mission, inspired by the legacy he leaves behind.
